I once wrote an article (in an Arabic newspaper, yes, in Arabic) arguing that choosing representatives by lottery would be superior to voting. In my article, I also used Aristotle's opinion on this where he said that voting implies oligarchy while lottery gets you democracy.
In the US, the problems with voting are especially glaring and got more so after the 'Citizens United vs FEC' ruling by the Supreme Court. Of course, the problems of voting is magnified in small countries like mine where corruption, outside interference and money can almost make voting meaningless.
It's great to see that I'm not alone in trying to grapple with the basics and I really enjoy your articles.
