It is not only in programming that ‘The End Is Nigh’. Business writing, technical essays, medical diagnosis, creative photography, education and many, many more are over ‘as we know it’.

The skills that may be needed in large supply will have more to do with philosophy, history, art theory and writing composition. Programming will still be useful as practice in being constructively precise and in providing insights on strategies of tackling problems through learning algorithms. High and highest level planning, decision-making and abstraction is where the game will be.

What is needed more than anything else is class awakening. This AI has the potential to free the majority of mankind from drudgery through huge gains in productivity or it may further and more effectively enslave people by the new AI priesthood doing the bidding of the ultra rich.
