My own students couldn’t get the engineering book I wrote and use in my graduate course because of price. I do not own my own book nor do I get royalties (published by ASCE; I got a grand total of 9 free copies). ‘Someone’ told them of libgen and now they all have the pdf.

What a pity! How unfortunate is that?
