Python, Matlab, C, Java, Javascript and so on all look similar at a certain level. If you want something extremely expressive and compact (albeit with a steep learning curve), you should look into Mathematica. Jupyter notebook (and later lab) was inspired by Mathematica but falls far short. Of course, Jupyter notebook is free while Mathematica is pretty expensive.
